This Fall started on a very sweet note.
I have always loved pears, and as I had stayed away from them for a while, I was glad to eat them again this Fall. And I could not have dreamed of a better variety of pears to start with than amazing Warren pears I found at my Farmers Market. Those pears are so juicy and sweet, they might as well be candy.
Of course I love to eat them raw, and in many, many other ways, but it occurred to me that they would do well in a smoothie, one morning where I was trying to think of breakfast ideas. I have mentioned before how I like to make green smoothies with market fresh greens, so I decided to combine a Warren pear, fresh greens, about 2 cups of homemade almond milk, 1 tbsp of raw cocoa powder, and some protein powder.
The result was pure liquid dessert! The pear and chocolate combination worked beautifully as always, and it was a truly delicious way to start the day. Have been hoarding those Warren pears since!
By the way:
- Warren pears are quite sweet when ripe, but you can add a date for additional sweetness.
- You could use any other milk of your liking.
- As is, this will be gluten-free, and dairy free.
